Crimestoppers attend workshop

On July 10 and 11, 10 citizen volunteers from Trinity County attended the Crime Stoppers certification workshop in Galveston.

Crime Stoppers, now a nationwide program, was begun in 1976 and has very successfully provided completely anonymous "Tips" to law enforcement agencies.

Each individual program, for example Trinity County Crime Stoppers, operates under its own bylaws but must guarantee the anonymity of anyone providing a "Tip". Tips, called into the hotline 936-642-2334, may provide information on any criminal (not civil) activity and can lead to cash rewards.

The workshop provided the Trinity County members with organization, regulations, legal standards, fund raising, public relations as well as the organization's history. Although doubted at first, Crime Stoppers has proven nationwide to be a very positive contribution to law enforcement. For further information go to
