Two Apple Springs Volunteer Fire Department members attended the 3rd annual Deep East Texas Vehicle Extrication class held 20 – 22 May 2016 in Lufkin.
Firefighter Jennifer Young and Firefighter Stephen Edgerton completed the three-day course with high marks from their instructors. The Firefighters received training in stabilization techniques along with use of Cutters, Spreaders and hand tools. Eight different scenarios where used involving 1, 2 and 3 vehicle car wrecks along with a school bus.
This course was sponsored by the Deep East Texas Fire School.
A cooperative entity consisting of the Apple Springs VFD, Central VFD and Moffet VFD. The Training was held at Whites Towing and Recovery in Lufkin.
Training provided by R & J Rescue with oversight by the Texas Engineering Extension System (TEEX).
The Deep East Texas Vehicle Extrication School is held every year on the third weekend in May. It is open to all paid and volunteer fire depts.
